Where were you....?

Where were you 10 years ago on September 11th?  I'm almost tired of hearing that question.  Probably because I don't like remembering that day.  It was a day of unspeakable horror for our nation and was televised for the world to see.  I remember watching the bodies fall out of the buildings because people were jumping to get away from the fires.  They had lost hope.  There was no rescue coming in time, and rather than burn or suffocate, they jumped.  I hope that I never feel that sort of hopelessness in my lifetime.

That was a day that changed the course of my life, and the lives of countless millions of people.  It was the day that I realized that doing menial jobs wasn't good enough for me.  I realized that I needed to do the best that I could to make the world a better place.  It was at that time that I decided to go into ministry, and ended up working 6 years as a youth minister in a small town in Kentucky.  I did the best I could and hopefully left that town, church, and students I was with a little better than when I got there.

So, here I am, 10 years later, still trying to prepare myself to make my little corner of the world a better place.  In 3 months I will be finished with my master's degree in counseling and will begin working with people trying to help them improve the world in which they live.  Although I'm not in the ministry anymore, or really have much desire to get back into the ministry, I know that i can still work with people and improve the world one person at a time.
